Delta Delta Delta was founded on November 28, 1888 by Sarah Ida Shaw and Eleanor Dorcas Pond at Boston University. Although three women's groups were already present at Boston University, our founders wanted to create something unique, with values and symbols they felt best aligned with their beliefs and personalities.
The Gamma Theta chapter at UC Santa Barbara was founded almost one hundred years later on May 9th, 1987. Although Tri Delta is one of the newest Panhellenic organizations on campus, we have a strong foundation laid by our Alpha class. Throughout our 30 years on campus, our chapter has been carrying on the traditions of Delta Delta Delta: cultivating a strong sisterhood, encouraging academic excellence, raising funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and supporting the development of our members throughout their collegiate experience.
