Delta Delta Delta is an organization that focuses on developing of strong bonds of sisterhood. We would like to use this space to remember two exceptional sisters that we lost four years ago.
On May 23, 2014, tragedy struck our close-knit beach community, taking the lives of our two beautiful sisters, Katie Cooper and Veronika Weiss.
Katie was such a strong individual, and had the most optimistic outlook on life. She was known around the house as the “mama bear,” exemplifying true selflessness and generosity toward everyone she came in contact with. In any situation, she was the first to offer any and everything she could (most frequently while wearing anything patriotic with tons of glitter).
Veronika was a constant, energetic presence, always wearing Converse shoes and a positive attitude. She spent more time at the chapter house with us than anywhere else on campus. Her smile lit up every room and her enthusiasm for life motivated us to become better versions of ourselves. We could always count on her effortless humor and wit to brighten up our days.
Veronika and Katie were the definition of “Super Deltas”– a term our chapter uses to describe our most inspirational women who go above and beyond to embody Tri Delta’s values. Words will never be able to express the pain and sorrow in our hearts from experiencing the loss of our two beautiful sisters.
As we push through the healing process, the Gamma Theta chapter vows to keep the memories of our two beautiful angels alive. We strive to be courageous and adventurous like Veronika. We aim to be friendly and giving like Katie. That’s how we move forward. That’s how we touch lives the way they did.
We will continue to rise from the ashes, stronger than ever — always acknowledging that although we may not have them physically with us, they will forever be in our hearts.
